This dress is very cute in person and with the right accessories it can be adorable. I bought it for my granddaughter who is 6 yrs old and on the smaller side. She weighs 42 pounds. I bought a size 6. It was a bit big on her but not by much. I would suggest to buy your child's size or go up a size. The material was not to heavy, or not to light. Everyone raves about it when she wears it.
